I just fired up my LivePC. Hamachi does not seem to be working
anymore ... I wonder if it's because it went commercial when
the logmein crowd purchased them.
I did the following:
- Changed the network settings for the LivePC from NAT to bridged (
so that the livePC would have a unique IP address on my network. NAT
would work too but it involves more configuration ).
- Fired up the LivePC
- Double clicked on the "Upgrade Synapse-livePC" icon on the desktop to let it upgrade the synapse-server
- Double clicked on the "start synapse.sh" script on the desktop and chose "Run"
- Let it update itself, and then download all the accessories programs
- I think I restarted it to make sure it was running ( step 4 )
- Open a terminal to check the ip address using ifconfig - and this
told me that eth2 was running on 192.168.1.106 ( this will differ for
you )
- Opened a synapse client on the windows side and pointed it to 192.168.1.106:8011 with credentials of Graham/password
- And I was in ....
Changing from NAT to bridged means I don't have access to shared folders on my windows PC.
When Hamachi was working we could access the synapse server using
it's Hamachi iP address and not worry about the NAT/Bridged mode
setttings ....
