System Environmental Variable 'synapse-port'

Every Synapse EMR Express Server must operate upon a fixed IP address or name, and port number. The Synapse EMR Express client is automatically configured to access www.synapsedirect.com:8011 connecting to the Demonstration Synpase EMR Express Server on our live demonstration server.

When installing Synapse EMR Express Server upon your own local office network, this is automatically configured for port 9010 upon whichever server you intall then server software. You would then configure the following 'synapse-port' system environment variable for every client computer, to the value 'myserver:9010' replacing myserver with the ip address or name of your Synapse EMR Server.

This snapshot illustrates the Disaster Recovery capability of Synapse EMR Express. For customers relying upon our ASP Hosting of Synapse EMR Express (where we host your server in our secure data center) for an additional fee Doctors can have their remote Synapse EMR Express Server replicated to a PC in the office on a weekly or customized frequency of update.

Synapse EMR Express Replication only replicates the changes in data between your live and local database copy. This means that updates between our data center and your local PC are extremely fast and consume very little bandwidth.

SynapseDirect will be publishing more details of their optional Disaster Recovery and Replication service over the coming weeks.

Synapse EMR Express Client allows the selection of a GUI (graphical user interface) size. Currently have 3 options provided as 3, 4, and 5. Option 3 is closest to the UMPC resoltion.

Synapse EMR Express option 3 is currently at 857 x 499

The UMPC screen resolution is 800 x 480

Every time you start Synapse EMR Express a fast version check is completed with our Web Site. If there is a newer release available, you are prompted with the question whether you want to Upgrade. Clicking Yes will automatically open your default browser to our Synapse EMR Express Client download folder.

You must de-install the existing Synapse EMR Express client software using Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Then install the latest version of the downloaded Synapse EMR Express Client install.

Of course, if you're busy or in a rush, you can just say No and you will be prompted to upgrade the next time you start Synapse EMR Express.
