Synapse EMR Express is a n-tier server application with a separate client application which is used to view and manage your Electronic Patient Records.
- The Synapse EMR Express Server comprises a database server and Synapse EMR Server application. These are normally installed upon the same Windows Server machine, although in large and high-volume Doctor Practices these can be installed upon their own dedicated server hardware.
- The Synapse EMR Express Client is installed upon an Personal Computer or Laptop which will be used to manage Patient Records.

Download and install the FireBird ODBC Driver for Microsoft® Windows. This is required by the Synapse EMR Express Server to communicate with your FireBird database, which will store all your patient data.

(Optional) Install FireDaemon Service Manager for Windows
Your
Synapse EMR Express Server must be
up and running before any of your PC or Laptop client computers can connect and start managing Patient Records. Your Windows Server would normally need to be logged-in with Synapse EMR Server running as an application. To avoid the need to always login on your Windows Server to start your
Synapse EMR Server we use an inexpensive utility to automatically run
Synapse EMR Express as a Windows Service. Download the evaluation FireDaemon Service Manager for Windows from
